  • Do I need a module to run a protein purification workflow using the Dual Stream Chromatography Protein Purification Workstation?

    By using our DFC protein purification workstation, the dual flow chromatography workflow can be automated without the need for additional modules. Purification is carried out in Biotage PhyTips (sold separately).

  • Which Biotage PhyTip columns should I use with the OT-2 Dual Stream Chromatography Protein Purification Workstation?

  • What kind of labware is compatible with the OT-2?

    Out of the box, the OT-2 supports any automation-compatible, ANSI/SLAS compliant well plate, as well as a variety of snap-cap and screw-cap tubes, up to 50 mL conical tubes using our 4-in-1 tube rack. You can view the full range of supported labware in our labware library.

  • Do I need to know how to code to use OT-2?

    You don't need to know how to code to use the Opentrons platform. Protocols can be created using Opentrons' plug-and-play protocol design tool. We also have an application engineering team that can build custom protocols for you.

  • What does the OT-2 protocol look like?

    You can find our community's collection of OT-2 protocols in our protocol library. Feel free to search the library for protocols that match your lab workflow!
    If you don't see a protocol that matches your lab's process, we offer several different options for creating your protocol. Additionally, you can leverage our team of engineers for custom protocol development.

  • Does the OT-2 integrate with third-party lab equipment?

    Due to the open source nature of the robot, many of our users have successfully integrated the OT-2 with third-party lab equipment. Integration such as this would be a DIY project undertaken by your lab and is outside the scope of the Opentrons support team.

  • What certifications does the OT-2 have?

    OT-2 has the following certifications: CE, FCC, NRTL, ISO 9001, CB
    Please note that the robot is not IVD or GMP certified/validated

  • Can OT-2 be used in a biological safety cabinet?

    Labs within the Opentrons community have installed OT-2 pipetting robots in biosafety cabinets (as well as inert atmosphere glove boxes), including Labconco’s Logic Vue Class II enclosure and Baker’s AeroPROTECT 360 enclosure. We recommend that you cross-check the dimensions of the OT-2 with the dimensions of the biosafety cabinet of your choice.
