Opentrons HEPA modules allow you to run sensitive workflows prone to contamination. It can effectively filter out 99.99% of DNA particles and biological contaminants above 0.3 μm, creating a clean working environment inside the OT-2.

  • Can HEPA modules be used to treat pathogens?

    Yes! When performing multiple protocols on a thermal shaker, it may be necessary to heat but not vibrate the module, which is supported by the thermal shaker.

  • Do HEPA modules use positive or negative pressure?

    The HEPA module uses positive pressure to provide a sterile working environment inside the OT-2, as shown in the illustration on page 2 of our HEPA module white paper.

  • Is the HEPA module a stand-alone unit?

    The Opentrons HEPA module is intended for use with our OT-2 and is not available as a standalone unit.
