Do I need to know programming knowledge to use Opentrons Flex?
No knowledge of programming is required to use the Opentrons platform. You can create protocols using Opentrons' concise and easy-to-understand protocol design tools. Additionally, our application engineering technical team can build custom protocols for you.
-
What services can I enjoy by purchasing Opentrons Flex?
On-site installation, remote service and annual preventive maintenance.
-
What kind of labware is Opentrons Flex compatible with?
Like OT-2, Flex It can support any orifice plate compatible with automation and compliant with ANSI/LAS standards, as well as a wide variety of EP tubes and nut centrifuge tubes, including centrifuge tubes with a capacity of up to 50 mL. You can view all supported laboratory equipment in our Laboratory equipment library.
-
Do I need a computer to connect to Opentrons Flex? Or can I operate directly on the touch screen?
Users do not need a computer connection to run the protocol. After creating the protocol on your computer, upload it to Flex where it can be operated via the touch screen.
-
Can I use OT-2 pipettes with Opentrons Flex?
No, OT-2 pipettes are not compatible with Opentrons Flex.
-
Are the Opentrons Flex side panels removable?
Yes, the side windows and front door of the Opentrons Flex are removable.
-
Does Opentrons Flex have collision detection?
Opentrons Flex will detect collisions by comparing the actual movement of the embedded motor to the expected movement. For example, if the robot expects 2 motor rotations, but only completes 1 due to a collision (stopping motor movement), the robot will detect the difference between the expected movement and the actual movement. An error message will then appear telling you that recalibration is required.
-
Can I use one computer to control multiple Opentrons Flex?
Can! The same applies to OT-2.
-
How many saved protocols can be displayed on Opentrons Flex?
Users can save up to 8 protocols on the Opentrons Flex touch screen.
-
How much clearance is there in the rear of the Opentrons Flex for power and ventilation?
20 cm (8 inches) of side and back clearance for cables, USB connections, and to dissipate exhaust air from instruments such as thermal cycling modules or temperature control modules.
