The "two-to-one" principle of a pipette is mainly related to the operation mode of the pipette and the design of the piston gear. As a unique operating technique, with its unique mechanism and significant advantages, it has been widely adopted in many key fields such as biological research, drug development, and environmental monitoring. This technique not only highlights the ingenuity of the pipette design, but also reflects the wisdom of scientific researchers’ unremitting pursuit of experimental accuracy.
1. Basic operation of pipettes Pipettes usually have a piston pusher design with two gears (or stops), which facilitates forward and reverse pipetting. In forward pipetting, first push the piston to the first position, then immerse the pipette tip in the liquid to aspirate, then transfer the liquid to the target container, and press the piston to the second position to completely discharge the liquid. This method of operation is also known as "suck one against two."
2. The specific operation and principle of "suction two against one" 1. Liquid suction stage: In the operation of "suction two against one", first press the piston push rod to the second gear (that is, a deeper position), which will cause The tip aspirates slightly more liquid than the set volume. Since there is an air chamber inside the pipette, when the piston push rod is pressed to the second gear, the air chamber is further compressed, causing more liquid to be sucked into the tip. 2. Drainage stage: During draining, only press the piston push rod to the first gear (that is, the shallower position). At this time, most of the liquid is discharged, but because the piston push rod is not pressed to the second gear, a small part of the liquid will remain in the suction head. In this way, through the "suction two against one" operation method, it is possible to ensure that the liquid volume in the target container is consistent with the set volume, while avoiding volume loss caused by the liquid adhering to the surface of the suction head or evaporating into the air.
3. Application Scenarios and Advantages The "two-on-one" operation method is particularly suitable for handling viscous, foamy or volatile liquids. These liquids are prone to splashing, foaming or evaporating during the transfer process, thus affecting the accuracy of pipetting. Through the "two-for-one" method, the volume loss caused by the characteristics of the liquid can be compensated to ensure the accuracy of pipetting. “Two-to-one suction” is also suitable for situations where high-precision pipetting is required, such as biological experiments, drug research and development and other fields. In these fields, even small changes in liquid volume can have a significant impact on experimental results. Therefore, the "two-in-one" operation can provide more accurate pipetting results, thereby improving the accuracy and reliability of experiments.
The principle of "suck two against one" of the pipette is to control the suction and discharge volume of liquid by adjusting the gear of the piston push rod, thereby ensuring the accuracy of pipetting. This mode of operation is particularly suitable for handling liquids with special properties and high-precision pipetting.
